Chiaki Uematsu – Architect & Spatial Artist
I design spaces as living artworks, blending Japanese sensibility with global perspectives. My projects range from Olympic-scale architecture to intimate interiors and stage designs, always connecting human emotion with the environment. Design, to me, is not only about form, but about creating a rhythm of life where individuality and well-being can flourish.
I am a licensed architect in Japan. After working in several design offices, I served as the Chief Designer for the renovation of the Nippon Budokan for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, a project that received the BELCA Award. In 2021, I established my own design studio, focusing on architecture, interior design, stage art, and international collaborations.
In addition, I am committed to nurturing the next generation of designers in the age of AI, exploring how creativity and technology can expand human imagination and open new futures for design.
